Our Building Process

Our Building Process

Phase 1: Pre-Construction

Initial Meeting

We know that every custom home starts with a dream and we want to take the time to hear about yours! An initial consultation allows us the chance to get to know you, answer any questions you have for us, and get a good idea of the type of home you are wanting to build.

Contract & Deposit

If you decide we are the builder for you, a signed contract and paid deposit will reserve your spot with us and get the ball rolling on building your dream home!

Lot Selection

At MCH, you have the ability to build on YOUR lot or build on OUR lot. If you already own a lot, our team brings extensive experience building on unique lots so that you and your family can be well on your way to living on the land you have chosen. We offer a FREE site evaluation and will handle all of your lot prep needs.

If you are searching for a lot, we have 1+ acre lots located in the fully custom, private gated community of Veridian Point, in Burleson, TX. If you don’t already have a real estate agent, the Julie Short Team is here to connect you with the perfect piece of property for your future home!

Plans & Design

At MCH, we believe custom is creating, not modifying. You dream it. We build it. Together, we will work with an architect to determine the best plans to suit your style and lot while incorporating the custom features you love! Whether choosing independently or working with an interior designer, we will help you carefully craft a beautiful and functional floor plan.

Meet Your Project Manager & Make Selections

It’s time to meet your Project Manager! Your Project Manager is here to walk you through the entire home building process and will be your direct point of contact. A spec meeting allows the opportunity for your PM to introduce himself and for you to pick out finishes and selections for your future home.

Bid & Budget

Once initial selections have been made, MCH will send out the plans and specs to our trade vendors to bid your job. These bids are then used to create your construction budget which will be approved by MCH as well as the client! Our team consists of true builders who evaluate design constructibility and seek creative ways to improve budgets. With our unique flat fee cost method, we ensure that we are all working together with honesty, giving no incentives to cut corners or drive up the cost unnecessarily.

Financing

Once you’ve found your lot and plans have been finalized, it’s time to secure the financing for your project. MCH has a fantastic group of lenders, ready to work with you. In custom building, the client is responsible for finalizing the financing necessary to build their dream home. Keep in mind that construction loans function differently than traditional mortgages!

Permits

Once financing is in place, MCH will work with the city, county, or whomever carries jurisdiction for your property to acquire necessary permits. Once all the permits are in order, it’s time to break ground and start construction!

Phase 2: Construction

Site Work

The MCH team will quickly get to work prepping your site for construction. This includes removing trees, bringing in fill dirt and building the pad for your home to sit on.

Foundation

This includes all preparatory work and pouring your home's foundation. At this stage you'll see the groundwork for all plumbing in your home.

Frame

During the framing process, framers will build the walls of your home while also laying the decking for the roof to sit on. Framers will install your windows during this step as well!

Roof

Now that your home has walls and windows, it’s time for a roof. When the roof is complete, the home is considered "dried in." That means we are safe from water damage caused by rain.

Plumbing, Electrical, Insulation, HVAC

At this point, we will finish the plumbing and run water to the correct places. Electricians begin wiring the home and the HVAC system is installed.

Drywall, Exterior Finish

Once drywall is installed, all the lumber, pipes and wires finally start to look like a home. Additionally, we begin brick and stone work at this point.

Interior Trim, Cabinets, and Flatwork

These little details go a long way. Crown molding, baseboards, and built in shelving all happen here. Kitchen cabinets go in and we also pour concrete for the driveway and walkways.

Floors, Counters, Fixtures

Installation of all tile, wood and carpet go in at this time. Once countertops are done you'll see sinks, faucets and all fixtures installed as well at this stage.

Final Touches

This stage includes finishing all the touch-ups necessary to make your home perfect. This is generally a 2 week process. Our team uses this time to ensure our quality standards are met and everything is perfectly in its place.

Final Walkthrough

Your final walkthrough happens before move-in. The MCH leadership team will walk the home, check for any defects or additional touch ups that are needed. Following that, the Client will walk the home and sign off on your finished home.
